Giorgio Franceschini's work focusses on green foreign and security policy, especially in the fields of defence, arms control and new disruptive technologies. A theoretical physicist by training, Giorgio worked in the telecommunications industry, in peace research and was the chairman of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (2016-17). He was Head of Foreign and Security Policy Division at the Heinrich Böll Foundation from 2018 to 2024 and a member of the Heinrich Böll Foundation's digital policy network. From 2022 to 2024 he also sat on the supervisory board of the foundation.
