Emily May Büning has been the Federal Political Director of Alliance 90/The Greens since February 2022. She studied law in Hamburg and completed her legal internship at the German Foreign Office in Berlin and at the Heinrich Böll Foundation Middle East in Beirut, Lebanon. She was state chair of the Green Youth in Hamburg, and between 2009 and 2011, first as political director, then as spokesperson on the federal board of the GREEN YOUTH. From 2012-2022, she was organizational director in the federal association of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN.
