Während einige wenige Privilegierte die Grenze legal überschreiten können, indem sie einfach ihren Pass vorlegen, stellen die Grenzen für die meisten Menschen schwierige, wenn nicht sogar unüberwindbare Hürden dar. Darüber hinaus gibt es viele andere Trennlinien: soziale, ethnische, religiöse und ideologische. Jede Grenze ist eine schmerzhafte Erinnerung an die Tatsache, dass es nicht die Entscheidung des Einzelnen ist, auf welcher Seite er oder sie steht.
